It seems only natural that we pay it forward - and in the case of architects how better to "pay it forward" than to benefit two well known shelter non-profits? ShelterBox USA and Habitat for Humanity are a perfect combination. At the end of each year we plan to give 10% of net profit to these worthwhile organizations.
ShelterBox USA provides emergency shelter and vital supplies to support communities around the world overwhelmed by disaster and crisis. So they are working the immediate stages of shelter concerns. You can check them out here.
Meanwhile Habitat for Humanity is the longtime organization with the mission to provide everyone everywhere a decent place to live. They work the other end of the spectrum, moving people into homes that the new residents work to build or renovate alongside Habitat volunteers. The new owners buy the homes on an affordable plan and Habitat makes no profit. You probably know about Habitat but you can refresh your memory here.
